We have some news . . .

Braden is going to be a big brother!!!!!!
Well, I took a pregnancy test on September 16 and well . . . it came out POSTIVE! I went for a doctor's appointment on Sept 18 and they verified the test. I have been feeling very nauseated, lovely, and have had all the other good pregnancy feelings that you get in the beginning.
Then today I went for my first ultrasound (with this one) and the baby is about the size of a grain of rice, and has a very strong heart beat. My estimated due date is May 19,2009. We are all very excited about a new baby in the house. Braden was all for seeing a picture of his new baby. I think he was kind of disappointed that the picture didn't look like a baby. He keeps telling me that he wants a baby sister and that we need to name her Kate.
(He loves the Arthur books, by Marc Brown. One of the stories is that Arthur and his little sister D.W. have anew baby at the house and her name is Kate. I think we will be reading that book a lot in the near future.)

Imagination Library Celebration

A few years ago Governor Phil Bredesen and Dolly Parton started a reading program for the state of Tennessee. Children recieve free books in the mail from the ages of new born to kindergarten. It's a wonderful program andwe haverecieved some really good books. Some examples are . . . Llama Llama Red Pajama, Llama Llama Mad at Mama, The Little Engine That Could, and many more. Some of the books have become Braden's all time favorites. Well, anyway today they had a celebration for the Imagination Library in Market Sqaure in Down Town Knoxville. Our playgroup went to enjoy the festivities and also throw in a baby shower for one of our mom's. We had so much fun. I took some pictures of Governor Bredesen, Mayor Haslam, and Mayor Ragsdale, plus a picture of Braden and his buddy Carlo. Unfortunately Dolly Parton was not there today, that would have been really neat though. In one picture Governor Bredesen is reading Llama Llama Mad at Mama.

I went on an interview

Well, it is official . . . I am looking for a job. I applied at a couple of places near our home and Braden's school. Target, one of them, is only hiring for the 4am - 9 am shift MWF and some Saturdays. I think it'd be good for me , but then I started to think about the actual weight lifting and all (it's a stocking position), so maybe not. I also applied at Beleza Salon and Spa for a prt time receptionist position there. The interview today went well, I think. I spoke with 2 managers and they will pass along their oppinions and thoughts to their boss, one of the owners, and hopefully I will get a phone call back scheduling the 2nd interview with him. So keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll keep everyone posted on the process.

Pig Roast in Seymour

My dad took us all out to Seymour,TN to attend a Pig Roast with some of his fellow Knights of Colombus members and their families. The boys had a blast! They had a bounce house, cotton candy, water ballons, and then this ball toss game. Also, the meat was still on the pig, so to get your lunch you had to watch the guy literally cut it off of the pig!! It had it's head and everything. Mom and I couldn't look at it, so we made dad and Travis get it for us. Later my dad brought over one of the pig's feet. Disgusting!!!!!

School day and playing

As I picked up Braden from school yesterday his teacher told me something very sweet that he said to her. She told me that he just came up to her and said "Miss Becky, I love you." and gave her a hug around her legs. How sweet is that. She told me that him saying to her just melted her heart, because she goes home wondering if any of the kids, that cry when mommies leave them, really do like her. At least she knows Braden does. He did very well on Thursday when I dropped him off. He just gave me a very pitiful smile, but I kept reminding him that if he was happy going to school Miss Becky was going to give him a sucker and I would bring his "Nutron" DS for him to play with on the way home. He did very well.
Later that day I took him to Victor Ash Park before dinner. He had a blast swinging, jumping, and just being outside. He was worn out from playing all day, that we came home, had dinner, took a bath, and went to bed. He's getting so big. He even peed and pooped on the potty before going to bed.

Braden rewards Dadda

We are still working on the whole potty training thing with Braden. Yesterday after dinner, as Travis was getting ready for his softball game, Braden decided to " check on Dadda". The next thing I know the kid is running past me, I was in the kitchen cleaning up from dinner, run up the stairs, then down again. I just stood there andlet it all play out. The next thing I hear is Braden running down the stairs with his M&M container in hands. He runs into our bedroom / bathroom and this is what I hear . . . "Dadda, you did it! Great job! What color M&M do you want?" Travis decided to give Braden an M&M also, since he thought to give Dadda a reward.
Later that evening after Travis was at his game Braden told me he had to pee!!! That's a HUGE milestone. Turns out he had already gone in his pull up, but hey he noticed! So we ran upstairs to see if he could pee again and he did!!! He also told me again this morning before we went to school. He said "I can't go to school, I have to pee pee in the potty first." Well, we were a little late for school, but he did pee!!!!!! Ah, my little boy is getting so BIG!

Football Time in Tennessee!

At the first sound of football on Labor Day, Braden ran upstairs to grab his football saying "I gotta get my football too!" We decided to go outside and trow a bit to see if he could catch the ball. He tried, but like UT failed at the attemped to succeed. We also brought out his remote controlled Hummer and drove it around the street. Braden freaks out when we do this. I think he's afraid it will not come back. Hestands at the edge of the drivewayand yells out "No, come back to Braden's house!" He did better this time.
